Start by marking the spot where the split rail fence gate will be built, with special attention to the property line so that the fence is on your side. Most of the time will be spent to measure the distance between the posts and where exactly are installed. A pre-cut all rails and posts will be useful. For this task a hole saw kit and electric drill to drill holes in the top and bottom of each post is needed. Finally, we have to reduce endpoints, corner posts and line posts, so that the holes fit. Using a hole digger, dig a hole for each position, with a depth equal to one third of the entrance.
Split rail fence gate, the installation of the posts has to start with a final message and the other shall be established by a chain and a level between them. You have to arrange for extra tamping soil in the rear hole and make the necessary adjustments to ensure that posts are plumb. The final step is to insert the rails. If you find post holes are not big enough for the rails, shave the first end of the guide before drilling a larger hole in the post.
