Modular carpet is another way of describing carpet tiles or squares.  Application of modular carpet tiles for wet tile adhesive will join permanently underground instead of allowing removal and replacement of tile in a dry adhesive.

Start installation of modular carpet tiles locating center of room. In deciding on a focal point for room, I recommend checking perimeter carpet tiles are at least half size when installed. Identification of an existing perimeter wall is useful to measure from. A chalk line should be fitted which is parallel to perimeter wall at appropriate distance. A second chalk line must engage that intersects first at an angle of 90 degrees.

Modular carpet tiles are placed per quadrant – once first quadrant is placed is installed adjacent quadrant. Placing each quadrant according to pyramid technique allows installer to catch a misalignment of tiles. Instead of working in rows, technique of pyramid first time in corner where chalk lines aligned. A tile is placed on each side of first tile, then a tile on either side of each of new tiles – to add three new tiles – and then each side of new tiles, which would mean placing four new tiles. Installation grows in this manner until dial is complete.
